Salmon in the Western Baltic Sea
Ban on the catch of wild salmon and limited catch on farmed and released salmon in 2025.
Catch restrictions
Restrictions for 2025
01/01 - 31/12: Fishing for salmon is prohibited and all incidental catch must be discarded. However, it is permitted to take home 1 adipose fin-clipped (released) salmon per fisherman per day. The catch must be brought home whole.
Please note
From 1 January 2024, it has not been allowed to catch salomon for recreational anglers in the Western Baltic Sea. This also applies to passengers fishing from tour boats.
It is not a closed season imposed by the Danish authorities, but rather a catch restriction set by the EU, which applies to sub-areas 22-31 - see the map under Download.
